Projects
These are the problem areas I’m actively working on.
Proactive diagnostic testing. Comprehensive diagnostic testing is hard to access and often discouraged rather than enabled. Preventive care should make testing easy, frequent, and paired with clear education, but today the system is shaped by volume-based insurance incentives, limited patient education, and inconvenient care models. Through Instalab, I’m building a new standard for healthcare that encourages more testing, better understanding of results, and earlier intervention.
Funding impact documentaries. Important documentaries often never get made, or never get finished, not because the stories lack significance, but because funding is fragmented and unreliable. Through Outlier Film Fund, I’m working to build better funding pathways that support filmmakers from early development through completion and distribution.
Rethinking economic theory. Standard economic theory has come to function more like a doctrine than a science. We’ve grown to prize simplicity and good-sounding reasoning over actual correctness, and the result is poor decisions and policies that shape billions of lives. We need frameworks that are realistic even when they’re messy. I’m following the newer field of complexity science as a promising start, and I’m interested in supporting research and writing that takes this seriously.
